Objective: What did they teach and learn in a colonial classroom?

Beginning: In 1607 the Europeans came to America an have established the first colony. One of the states they established was Massachutts. This is where it all began. In 1776 the first primary school they ever built was in Massachutts. They main purpose was to teash children to read and write. The goverment had made this as a common law. There were only two levels of the schooling.
First level: The two main types of schools in the first level was the town schools and private schools. The town schol was locally controlled the primary school. The ages that they had was 6 to 14 years old. For both of these levels they had only two resources and that was the Bible and Hornbook.
Secondary level: Two schools the secondary level had was latin grammar schools and the Academy. The latin Grammar had studied Latin, Greek,arthmetic, classical literature, ancient history and religous education. The Europeans consisted that they should study those subjects. These students could choose a foregin language based on their vocational needs. Most students that went to latin Grammar school went to Harvard Yale.
